This summer several people we know will be having babies. What that meant for me was 4 baby showers in the last three weeks. I was excited because I got to make my favorite thing: Baby quilts! I didn't really start sewing until after my babies were bigger, so I never made baby quilts for my own girls, but I just enjoy making baby quilts. They are so small that they can be put together quickly, and they give me ideas for bigger projects based on how a pattern or stitch works on a smaller scale. Here are the quilts that I gave as gifts this month:
For my friend Anneliese's baby girl:
This one was made specially for my sister-in-law Lupe's baby boy...... I too a few photos of the process of making this quilt:
The finished product:
And this one I put together for my friend Denise, whose baby girl will join them in September:
This last quilt is one I made for Maya when she was about three years old. She never really liked it, so it is usually stowed away in the linen closet.
