What should I blog about...how bout running!

It's been a while since I've last blogged, mainly because nothing interesting has happened in my running life. I know I could always blog about something non-running related; but what? Let's see:

1. Family life, kids, current happenings, etc. - Tara dominates that realm of this blog, I would look pathetic in comparison. Here I'll give it a shot:

"I have kids, girl kids, three of them. Summer is hot. I like....ummmmm"

See I told you, no good.

2. My job. Well that's GS-14 level classified. In other words, I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

So that leaves me with running. But I finally have something to talk about. My future goals and plans.

As of right now I'm signed up for California International Marathon (CIM) and American River 50 miler (AR50) (for my second time). Right after CIM, the lottery opens for the Way Too Cool 50K. Hopefully I'll get into that race as well. So if everything goes as planned, I'll be racing in December, March 2011 and April 2011.

I thought I wouldn't do AR50 or WTC for a while, but there so close and convenient I couldn't pass them up.

Goals: Three PR's, sub 3 hour marathon finish. Secret goals...well that's a secret.

Training is going good. The kids have soccer practice Monday-Thursday evenings, but I have found a silver lining to Annaka's practices (Tuesday and Thursday). I can leave her there and get a second run in for the day. Last Thursday I got an additional 5 miles in with three repeats up Costco hill (those living in Folsom will know what I'm talking about). What's more is I have found an awesome group of guys to train with. Deno, Ken, Scott S., Scott S. (yes, there's two Scott S's), Joe, Anthony and Eric. Usually someone from the group is available to run.

Western States 100 mile endurance run (WS100); not at this point in my life. I learned a tough lesson at Miwok 100k. I need more free time in my life to train the way I would want to for a 100 mile race. Maybe in a few more years I'll reevaluate. Until then I'll stick to 50K's and under with a fun 50 miler here and there.

Beyond WS100, I have a few things on my bucket list. I'd like to run up Mt. Whitney as fast as I can, Rim to Rim to Rim at the Grand Canyon, Hwy 50 to Hwy 80 on the Pacific Coast Trail and if I sit here long enough I'm sure I could come up with some more.
